Monkeymagic's Guide to Beating Storm Golem

Here are a couple of things that can help defeat the Storm golem.

Conga Line. March single file at stormy, and when you are able, swarm him. Just make sure the first fig is expendable. (Brass golems, Wood golems, zombies, khamsin freelancers work pretty good here. Cheap and plenty of life.)

Tie him up. Use a cheap, manuverable fig such as an imp or shade to tie stormy up. Hide behind blocking terrain, and when ready, jump into action. With stormy in b2b with one of your figs, get into position with other attackers and when stormy kills little fig, blast him.

Stealth/blocking terrain. Remember, stormy can't hit what he can't see. Use the largest size of terrain possible (64 square inches), and march your stealth figs into hindering, with your attack force behind them, or march behind blocking and wait to get into position then rush and attack.

Magic Blast. Stormy is susceptible to MB, so use a magus or magus draconum, or chaos mage, or amazon queen, behind blocking, or behind a unit with stealth in hindering.

Magic levitation. Use the magus or chaos mage or anunub (yeah i wish too my friend). ML a blade golem or other figure with good attack and damage. (Skeletons, Amotep guardsmen, etc)

Attack from multiple sides. Break your group up into 3 or 4 formations/groups. surround him then move in for the kill, with any luck, only 1 or 2 groups will be in range/los of stormy.

Take down the support troops first. He's a lot less scary when he doesn't have the +damage from demis or healing from another figure.

Don't be afraid to push. In doing so you could set yourself up to take stormy down.

Move just outside of Stormys range, then move in.

Hope this helps.

The following was added on April 18th from an email by monkeymagic:

Use Cheap Weapons Master figs. Such as amazon blademistress, crystal bladesmen, altem guardsmen, (ok not so cheap.)Employ the conga line/terrain idea with this one. - Rippenflesh

Moving Wall. Use a formation of figures to march as a wall at stormy. Zombies work pretty well cause they never demoralize and have plenty of clicks. Dwarven beserkers also work well for pretty much the same reasons and MI. No bonus to damage from Demis! - JanusBemus and monkeymagic

Flame/Lightning. Great for taking down the turtle support. 2 gunners w/demi would destroy his support if they got two strikes against stormy (they wouldn't even have to hit stormy, just the support. Target stormy w/F/L and you affect every fig in contact with him. Bye bye demis/shamans.

Swirl/Cyclone. March a strong unit/formation just outside of stormys range. Next available turn, move fig/formation around stormy, still outside his range. If he turns to face you keep it up, or if he doesn't , keep it up any way. Either way you will force stormy to face your figs, only to flank him with something else, or you will end up flanking him with said fig/formation anyways.
